9th Lord Kinnaird to Patrick Matthew, 1 September 1863
(MS100/2/bundle714/2, pdf image)
Kinnaird replies to Matthew’s last letter, with a somewhat exasperated tone. Kinnaird is not moved by Matthew’s arguments regarding the partition wall in the School House. As far as Kinnaird is concerned, the matter is closed, and if Matthew feels he must resign over it then so be it.
Sept 1st, 1863
The plans of the School House at Errol were considered and the question of a Class Room was very fully discussed at the adjourned meeting of Heritors and the Com[mit]tee have no power to alter the plans as agreed to at that meeting. They therefore must be proceeded with, and I shall regret if you think it necessary to withdraw your name from the Com[mit]tee. I leave for London the end of the week and shall hope when I return in Oct. to find the work well advanced.
[To] P. Matthew Esq.
